About P.A.T testing
A Portable Appliance Test is a process by which electrical appliances are routinely checked to see whether they are safe.
Health and safety regulations say that appliances must be proven to be safe, therefore a test should be carried out at regular intervals to ensure continual safety.
If appliances are not regularly tested, most insurers will not provide cover if the cause of any accident proved to be an unsafe appliance.
Failure to comply with the Electrical Regulations may constitute a criminal offence under the Consumers Protection Act 1987, which carries a maximum penalty on summary conviction of a £5,000 fine and/or 6 months imprisonment. In addition, be sued in Civil Law under the duty of care for failure to ensure any tennants safety and face punitive damages.
Covering the South West region, the pricing policy is very simple, current costs are:
£1.75 per test with a minimun charge of £30
(within a 25 mile radius of TA24).
Over 100 tests - 10% discount.
Over 200 tests - 15% discount.
Fuse changes free of charge.
Replacement plugs are £3 each.
Same day re-tests free of charge.
Prices include all labeling and paperwork necessary to satisfy your "duty of care".
All tests are carried out by a certificated NAPIT tester.
